Another successful Coats for the Community!

Thanks to all members and provisional members who came out to help with our 12th annual Coats for the Community project!
We would also like to send out a special thank you to our 2010 JA Little Sister Blair Fisher for coming out to help with the project, to Three Star Mall for allowing us to set up each year, to the mall shops (most notably Roses, Goody's and J's) for supporting this cause and for not getting upset when we take over the mall for a few hours and to our many many donors who make this project possible by donating their gently used coats and other cold weather gear!
We gave out 618 + coats and many hats, sweats, socks, shoes, sweaters, etc. and we saw so many moms, dads, grandparents and children come through to pick out coats to keep them warm this winter. We saw a larger number of people than we have in years past - the line started in front of the Bookland building and wrapped all the way around to the front of Goody's! We heard touching stories and met some really great people. Unlike some of our more anonymous or larger service projects, we got to see the faces of the people that our service helped. No wonder this project is the favorite of so many of our members!

We also gave out books to all kids that came through. The books were collected through our JA Book Drive project in late summer/early fall.

Congrats to project chair Danielle Miller and co-chair Carly Bruce for pulling off a very successful project!

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town - Christmas in the Park 2008

You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. I'm tellin' you why...Santa Claus is comin' to town!
......................
Yup, Santa is coming to McMinnville TONIGHT for our 23rd annual Christmas in the Park!
.......
He'll be there right around 6 pm to help us light the Downtown Christmas Tree, then he'll set up shop to visit with all of the children, to find out if they've been naughty or nice, and to double check what everyone wants under the tree this year!
.....
Santa will also be posing for pictures with the kiddies and J.A. will be providing free prints of the pictures for everyone!
............................................
Santa will be bringing Mrs. Claus and some of his elves along with him to the event so there will be no shortage of fun and photo opportunities for everyone!
So, come see us tonight in beautiful downtown McMinnville for a night of FREE fun for the entire family!
............................................

MEMBERS DON'T FORGET: Bring 3 or 4 dozen cookies to Jessica for the Cider House. See the Chapter Reminders to the left for details.

Christmas in the Park - December 2nd

Come out and see us at Christmas in the Park. It's shaping up to be a really exciting event with several new activities planned to go along with the classic favorites!
Show up a little early to see the first ever Christmas in the Park Luminary Lighting Ceremony..I think it will end up being a new tradition for our community!
Stephanie Ward, our Coats for the Community chairperson, is planning to set up a coat giveaway booth during the event. We think this will be a good opportunity for folks that didn't make it out to the mall in October who need coats now that it has gotten colder outside.

10th Annual Coats for the Community

We held our 10th annual Coats for the Community this past Saturday and it was a huge success! We had a ton of coats to give away and nobody left empty-handed!

We also gave out hats, shoes, snowsuits, sweat shirts, sweaters, windbreakers, gloves and other items of clothing.

Coats for the Community Chairperson Stephanie Ward wishes to thank everyone in the community who donated and all of the members that helped with cleaning, collecting and giving out the coats.
